Zucht.

So...we have this "van Galen". And we have the bishop of Cologne, who also was bishop of Liege/Luik. His english wiki is rather short, but the dutch one gives more info on his rather bizarre life. Also from the dutch wiki ,a quote stating that the Cologne and Munster troops left because the Prussian and Imperial troops were nearing. Wrong. For several reasons. Sigh.

2 opmerkingen:

  1. "Wrong. For several reasons. Sigh." OK, what were the reasons?

  2. - mass desertion and capture of Munster troops ('several thousand')
    - lots of casualties ('4000')
    - failure to cross the Frisian and Groningen water defense line
    - no more money as the promised money from England failed to arrive due to Dutch supremacy at sea
    - Prussia and the Empire were basically neutral at that time

My view anyway, mainly based on Thiessen.
